Power panel to reveal hot new technology for radio programmers
PRESS RELEASE (New York – Monday, June 23, 2008) -- Global programming consultancy McVay Media has added Jetcast’s senior marketing executive Tom Zarecki to its lineup of presenters as part as part of the McVay Programming Summit @ The Conclave in Minneapolis on Thursday, June 26, 2008.
The McVay panel called “Six Hot New Ideas in Sixty Minutes” will showcase Zarecki along with other technology experts. Zarecki, also a lifelong radio veteran and radio programming columnist, will expose a number of radio streaming myths and explain how “content insertion” trumps “ad insertion” during online spot breaks.
Mike McVay, president of McVay Media, commented “Jetcast is an amazing service that not only enables a webcaster to deliver the best quality product, but they have a brain trust behind them that gives any radio group or media company an almost unfair advantage.”

Other well-known speakers and segments will get center stage throughout the 4-hour McVay Summit which kicks off The Conclave’s annual event at the Marriot City Center Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. Other sessions during the Summit include “A New Era for Fresh Talent”, “Promotions in Time of Crisis”, and “Using New Media to Attract New Listeners and New Revenue.”

“Best of Everything” targets mature music genre…and disenfranchised ad
vertisersPRESS RELEASE (New York – Monday, June 2, 2008) Dark Horse Productions, Ltd. has announced a partnership with New York-based Jetcast Internet Streaming in the recent launch of “The Best of Everything", a new, original, free music channel available online. The Best of Everything is a variety-driven ‘master blend’ of music showcasing familiar songs and artists from the past and present, targeting mature consumers. The continuous programming is available worldwide, 24/7 at www.TheBestofEverything.net. A new programming genre “right there, in front of my ears”
“People around the world who love crowd-pleasing performers and performances will love the ‘super-variety on this channel”, says Bob Bruno, President of Dark Horse Productions as well as the channel’s brainchild and primary programmer. “With the dominance of Rock-based music formats everywhere“, continued Bruno, “What was missing, frankly, was everything else. Once I realized this, the format was right there in front of my ears. Our team carefully selected the music, then added formatics and positioning to sculpt a new programming genre in an extremely listenable package.”The Best of Everything spotlights the cream of pop from all eras of twelve musical genres including Solid Gold, Classic Jazz, The Best Songs of Today, American Standards, Soft Rock, Soundtracks, The Best of the Band Years, Motown, Hit Parade, Timeless Country, R&B, and Broadway hits.Accepting and embracing variety“Where else can you hear the diversity of women like Carrie Underwood, Peggy Lee, Nora Jones, and Whitney Houston, all on the same channel?”, adds Bruno, a former VP/GM at legendary New York City stations WOR and WNEW. “Imagine classics by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, Chuck Berry, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and The Eagles all in one refreshing and different blend.”
“There’s an instinctive need for variety in our lives,” Bruno explains, “from the food we eat to the clothes we wear to the music we like. Just a quick glance at most people’s music collection tells the story best. Is it a bit eclectic? Most collections are. The Best of Everything is equally as broad, but reassuringly familiar.”
A marketer’s dream
America’s most popular songs and pop artists of all time are showcased to a potential audience of millions worldwide which, explains Bruno, just happens to also be an untapped advertising opportunity for thousands of disenfranchised businesses.
Crediting Business Week magazine for recognizing this fact in an article in which the mature consumer was called “a marketer’s dream,” (read article here) Bruno says the facts overwhelmingly support that conclusion. “Mature Americans’ incomes exceed average households,” he elaborates. “They control the largest disposable income of any age group in America. They are socially active, committed to a youthful lifestyle and living longer, fuller lives than any generation in history. This generation not only dismantled the old stereotypes of adulthood, it changed its own paradigm and as a pleasant by-product created a gold mine of sponsorship opportunities which remain untapped…until now”
“We’re honored to be working with Bob Bruno” added Tom Zarecki, Senior Marketing Executive at Jetcast Streaming. “Here at Jetcast, just like at Dark Horse, our principals have deep backgrounds in radio management and programming, so we immediately recognized Bob’s golden ears and winning programming ideas, and were able to provide the technology and tools he needed to get ‘The Best of Everything’ online quickly.”
